Emotional numbness, believe it or not, actually boils down to our bodies’ three evolutionary stress responses: fight, flight, or freeze. When you go through any event in life that is extremely taxing in an emotional or physical way, your body’s survival mechanism is activated and causes your psyche to go into the “freeze” mode.

Tips To Help You Defeat The Stress In Your Life

Stress can take a unacceptable toll on our physiological, as well as, our mental health. The problem could originate at our workplace or in our home. By following the suggestions delineated in this article, that point of origination can be discerned and a plan of attack initiated that will make stress, a thing of the past.

Avoid factory farmed meats, eggs and dairy products. These products are filled with adrenaline due to the horrible cruelty experienced by the animals. Excess adrenaline will raise your levels of the stress hormone, Cortisol. This will cause you to experience excess stress levels, decreasing your level of overall health and happiness.

A great tip that can help you keep your stress levels down is to read a book to your children. Not only will you be keeping your stress in check, you’ll be bonding with your children over a story. Try this next time you’re feeling a little stressed out.

A great tip that can help you when you’re feeling stressed out is to do some cleaning. Part of the reason you’re stressed out might be due to the fact that your home is so unorganized. Doing a bit of cleaning around your house can help you out and get you in a better state of mind.

Minimizing your exposure to the daily news will actually relieve you of some inadvertent stress. Even if you don’t realize it, watching a war on television, skyrocketing prices at the supermarket or neighborhood crime rates can really wear on your psyche. Every once in a while, especially when your stress levels are high, turn on a comedy or music instead of the news.

Stress can be severe and take a toll on your health. If you find yourself experiencing anxiety, depression, dizzy spells, a pulse that races, bad headaches, bad backaches or chronic neck pain, it is time to talk to your doctor about your options. Catching stress-related symptoms early helps you stay healthy and well.



Playing a game is a great way to reduce your stress, as it is fun and will take your mind off of your troubles. Invite a few friends over and play a board game, and after the entertainment, serve dinner and dessert. This will serve as a nice form of relief to your hectic day.

A good way to reduce the level of stress sin your life is to identify what causes you anxiety. Once identified, you eliminate or reduce these stresses. One example would be a friend who is constantly causing you to feel stressed and unhappy. Work to change that relationship or create distance between you and that person. Finding and eliminating stress sources in your life will really make a difference in your emotional well being, and will make you healthier, too.

A fantastic tip that can help you keep your stress levels down is to make sure you have good posture at all times. When people slouch, they aren’t getting as much oxygen to the brain and that can make them stressed. Having and maintaining good posture can help you keep your stress levels down.

A good tip that can help you fight stress is to not over analyze things all the time. By over analyzing everything that happens to you, you’ll never be able to enjoy a single moment of your life. Give your mind a rest by engaging in some kind of activity.

To more effectively manage stress, learn to let go of things you have no control over. Try to discern which things you do have control over and separate them, mentally, from those you don’t have control over. By separating the issues, you will find it easier to worry less about things.

Try deep breathing exercises in order to reduce stress. Take one deep breath in and hold it for 3 seconds, then exhale as slowly as possible. Do this several times until you feel yourself starting to calm down. Breathing is one of the easiest ways we have to naturally calm ourselves.

Give aromatherapy a chance. It is a simple method of relaxation that can really work well to reduce the amount of stress that you feel. Find a scent that de-stresses you personally and use it to relax. Lavender is most commonly used as a relaxing scent and can also be worn as a perfume.

When you wake up in the morning, take a vitamin B supplement, which will help to level out your mood and put you in a positive state of mind. This is a great way to start your day, and it will allow you to combat stress from the inside out on a daily basis.

Take a time-out and have a mini massage. Try rubbing the palm of your right hand with the thumb of your left. Make slow, circular motions, or use a device. Focus on the rhythmic movement and feel of the massage. Check for tight spots in your neck, and massage out any knots.

Sleeping is essential to a healthy body. If you are tired, you will not have the ability to properly manage your stress. You have to get a full dose of sleep every night if you want your body to live up to its potential, and your energy levels to last all day.

Take time for stress. Don’t stress all day, but have your worrisome thoughts and minor stresses wait.

If something is making you feel anxious and stressed, take a minute to stop and think about things. Is this something that will matter to you in a year? A month? Even a day? Many times the answer is no. If you realize the level of important that this particular thought or action has, you can often reduce the stress level associated with it.

When it begins to adversely impact our psychological and physiological health, stress is simply not an acceptable component of our lives. We must work to determine precisely what is causing the stress and to identify measures that we can implement to address it. Our lives will be all the better when stress is no longer a major problem.
