If left untreated long enough, stress can manifest itself physically, through eating disorders or even worse disorders, like cutting and other types of physical abuse. These are just ways in which people attempt to cope with their overwhelming feelings. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, read this article before stress manifests into something a lot nastier.

Don’t let your emotions get bottled up. Find a way to release them and you won’t feel as stressed. Some people feel better after venting to a friend, others prefer to write to get their feelings out. If you’re sad, cry for a bit. If you’re angry, try hitting a punching bag for a few minutes. If your emotions aren’t being pent up, you won’t be as stressed.

A great tip that can help you fight stress is to simply exercise. Exercising is great because it releases chemicals in your body that will make you feel better. You’ll also be able to put your nervous energy to good use by exercising. Exercising is a fantastic way to keep stress down.

One great tip for relieving stress is clearly know and define your priorities in life, as they will help you stay focused on what must be accomplished. When you lose sight of your goals and priorities, you will become unfocused, confused, and go off track, which will easily result in stress.

Sip on tea to help calm yourself. Chamomile tea is known for its calming effect, but there are also other teas that can calm you as well. Try a cup of passionflower, catnip, kava kava, or skullcap. Steep these herbs for about 10 minutes and you will get the full effects of their calming powers.

Learn how to breath fully using your diaphragm. As practice, breath through your nose, and watch your belly increase in size. Hold the breath for a few seconds before releasing. These deep breaths fully oxygenate your blood, relaxing you quite quickly! In fact, it’s been found that the opposite, short breathes, can speed up your heart beat, tighten your muscles and increase your stress!

Stress can have a tremendous effect on the amount and types of food that we eat. We may have the tendency to gorge on junk food when we are stressed. Our stomachs may be so upset by the stress that we can barely eat anything. Either reaction is potentially dangerous. Minimizing your stress level can radically improve your dietary choices.



A great tip that can help you fight stress is to start practicing yoga. There are many varieties of yoga and they each have their own benefit. Most importantly you’ll be able to think more clearly. Keep your stress levels down by doing a little bit of yoga each day.

In order to handle large amounts of stress make sure you are adequately rested. Dealing with extreme stress on little or no sleep is very difficult and borderline insane. Those who are poorly rested tend to make bad decisions which can cause more stress, and tend to be more easily irritated.

If you are at work and passing through a moment of great stress you should take a second to look at pictures of people and places that you really enjoy. This can help you to refocus on what is important and may even make the stressful situation feel a bit silly or useless.

Video games are a great way for people to reduce their stress by playing out their aggression through an avatar. They are not just for children anymore and a good competitive game can be just what you need in order to remove your high levels of bad stress.

Don’t sweat the small stuff. Learn to appreciate what things are worth stressing out over and what things are better to let go. There are so many things that you can’t control. If you have no control over what is going to happen, or the outcome, then there is no point in stressing out about it.

When there are a lot of issues on your mind, go out for a long night drive. Do not think about anything, just simply drive to clear your head. This is a great way for you to emotionally purge all of your troubles and help to put in focus what is important in your life.

If your life is stressful and hectic, one great way to get some stress out is to take a short nap. A half hour nap in the afternoon after work can make you feel refreshed and ready to continue the day, rinsing away the stress that has built up over the work day.

If in any way possible, take a short nap during the day when you are feeling stressed. If your body is exhausted, you are sure to feel more susceptible to stress. During sleep, your conscious mind will rest and your unconscious mind can find the solutions to the situations that are causing the stress.

To help yourself get through a stressful and overwhelming day, prioritize. Think about your duties, decide what needs to get done, and what can be saved for another day. Knowing what you’re going to work on and what you’ll do next gives you a goal to work for, and makes dealing with a long assortment of tasks a little less stressful.

Doing the things that you love is going to reduce the amount of stress that you feel in your life. It may seem as if it is going to cost you a day at work to do the things that you love, but it will be worth it. You will better be able to focus on your job if you are not as stressed when you go back.

Stress is something that will eventually wear everyone down unless it’s taken care of. You may believe that you can beat it by just ignoring it, but stress is powerful and it will have its day in the sun. Don’t risk it with inaction. Implement the tips you’ve learned here and work to eliminate the stress from your life.
