Don’t Let Stress Eat You Up, Check Out These Helpful Tips!
Stress affects us in many ways. For some it is internal, and for others it projects outwards onto the people around us. Finding a way to deal with it and even reduce the amount of stress in our lives is important. This article will give lots of ideas and tips on doing just that.
To handle stress in your life, start by minimizing stress in your life. Something as simple as laying out your work clothing for the next day can give you a better start in the morning; it may give you a few extra minutes to relax as well, instead of running around looking for a stray shoe or favorite blue sweater.
If at all possible, avoid negative people who only bring you down and stress you out! People with bad attitudes are often contagious and in order to preserve a positive attitude and keep yourself on track you need to keep away from them. A neighbor or co-worker who is always complaining is nearly always going to cause you stress so walk away!
When you are feeling down or stressed out, call your boyfriend or girlfriend and tell them how much you love them. This will put a smile on their face which will indirectly make you feel good about yourself. Call a loved one to maximize the way that you feel during the day.
If you are tired of the same routine each and every day, then make alterations. Take a different route to work or eat something different to give you an alternative perspective towards the day. Monotony can sometimes make you jaded, which can lead to more stress, so try to implement at least one change each day.
A good tip that can help you fight stress is to start being assertive in social situations. Being assertive insures that you’re always being true to your own wants and needs. If you’re passive all the time, you’ll feel resentment to other people and it also comes with stress.
To lower your stress levels. make sure you exercise at least three to five times each week for thirty minutes each session. The exercise can be anything from running and swimming to simply a daily walk. Exercise has the benefit of releasing endorphins, chemicals that enhance your mood, making it a great way to de-stress at the end of a hectic day!
A great tip that can help you fight stress is to simply have sex. The act of having sex releases endorphins into the body. These chemicals go straight to the brain and have a significant effect on our moods. Having sex now and then can help keep stress levels down.
One way to deal with stress in your life is to be sure that you do not take up drinking as a means of dealing with it. This is important because alcohol will only make your life more stressful in one way or another. The only positive effect that it has is possibly dulling your emotions. If you feel that you need a drink, stop and analyze what you are feeling. Try to deal with what stress you identify in a more healthy way. Either tackle the problem itself, engage in some vigorous exercise, or listen to your favorite music – whatever works for you.
One of the easiest ways to reduce stress in your life is by shutting off the evening news. Today’s news broadcasts are typically filled with nothing but doom and gloom, making them anything but uplifting. In fact, they can leave you feeling downright stressed out and worried. Instead, try skimming the news headlines online to stay informed. Just don’t allow yourself to get bogged down in all the details.
If a lot of your troubles arise from being late in the morning, set your clock to wake up fifteen minutes earlier than you would. This will not make much of a difference in your sleep but can help tremendously in arriving to work on time and reducing your stress level.
A great tip that can help you keep your stress levels down is to write or read some poetry. Poetry is great because it allows you to express your feelings in a creative way. Not only will you be keeping your stress in check, but you’ll be creating art.
One of the newer practices to reduce stress is using aroma therapy. There are hundreds of plant essences and essential oils that are known to have stress relieving qualities. A scent like lavender is known to produce a feeling of relaxation and calm while geranium will bring down stress levels. These scents can be used to reduce stress while working or while meditating.
Plan a weekend with your friends to go to the casino and enjoy the pleasures of great dancing and gambling. All of the lights and glamour of the casinos will inject excitement into your day and put you in a great mood. Enjoy all of what a casino has to offer to feel uplifted.
If life is making you feel overwhelmed, then it is okay to say no. Don’t commit to more obligations than you can handle. You’ll only stress yourself out trying to do the impossible. If you’re worried about pleasing your friends, family or co-workers, remember that if you’re unable to do what you said you’d do because of stretching yourself too thin, you’ll end up upsetting or disappointing them as well as stressing yourself out.
You can easily reduce stress by smiling. You could also try the ‘fake it until you make it technique’ and smile to try to improve your mood. So give smiling a try and see what a difference it makes in the way you feel. Smiling in the midst of a stressful period can really help you relax and unwind.
Having a life free of stress is not going to be possible. But making smart choices that minimize stress and dealing with it properly when we do experience it, can make a world of difference in our health and our lives. Follow the tips here and change your life in a good way.
