Meditation can be a great way for you to relieve stress. Try meditating each night before you go to bed. Turn off anything around you, close your eyes, and clear out your mind. Don’t think about things you need to get done or problems that you need to solve. Just let your mind relax for a little while and focus on each breath. If your mind starts wondering, just bring it back to your breath. Shutting off your brain takes practice, but each practice session is working off your stress.

Don’t let your emotions get bottled up. Find a way to release them and you won’t feel as stressed. Some people feel better after venting to a friend, others prefer to write to get their feelings out. If you’re sad, cry for a bit. If you’re angry, try hitting a punching bag for a few minutes. If your emotions aren’t being pent up, you won’t be as stressed.

Saying “no” more often will actually reduce the stress caused by giving in to things you really didn’t want to be obligated to and keep you from having to do them! When you are already pressed for time throughout your day, so saying “no” to offers people make that you are not actually interested in will give you more control and definitely less stress!

Minerals such as chromium, calcium, magnesium, iron, copper, molybdenum, zinc, manganese, and selenium also help you to better deal with stress. Stay away from vitamins labeled as stress relievers as they are usually just vitamin B.

A great tip that can help you fight stress is to simply have sex. The act of having sex releases endorphins into the body. These chemicals go straight to the brain and have a significant effect on our moods. Having sex now and then can help keep stress levels down.

Avoid stress when possible! High blood pressure can be the direct result of too much stress in our lives. It is, of course, natural to experience a short-term spike in blood pressure under stressful situations. Think, for example, about a typical trip to the doctor’s office. Many people experience such as spike under such conditions. Long term elevation in blood pressure due to stress, however, is considerably more concerning!

You should discover your main causes of stress, and find out methods of eliminating or reducing them as much as you can. For example, if one of your friends is always finding ways to get you stressed out, try to be less active in that friendship. Getting rid of the causes of stress whenever possible can really improve your health and attitude.

If you’ve been feeling really stressed, finding a new hobby or refocusing on an old one can help you relax. Whether it’s gardening, knitting, hiking or painting, a hobby can help you step back from whatever is stressing you and get a new perspective on life. Next time you feel stressed and want to give up, do the opposite. Fighting through stress by being proactive, is an important step to controlling the situation.
