A Short Overview Of Ways To Deal With Stress
Do you ever wish you had a magic pill that could stop your stressed out feelings? Stress can be like an uncontrollable monster at times. We know stess is bad for our health, but sometimes we can’t help getting sucked into the latest crisis at work or home. The following may provide some helpful pointers to get you back to a calm state.
A great tip that can help you keep your stress levels down, is to simply give someone a hug. The physical act of giving or receiving a hug is one of the best ways to keep your stress down. You’ll feel nothing but warmth and you’ll notice that you aren’t as anxious.
Saying “no” more often will actually reduce the stress caused by giving in to things you really didn’t want to be obligated to and keep you from having to do them! When you are already pressed for time throughout your day, so saying “no” to offers people make that you are not actually interested in will give you more control and definitely less stress!
When you work for the greater part of your life, you may not have time to treat yourself. One of the things that you should do at least once during the week is to get a manicure or a pedicure. This will make you feel good about your body and relieve your tension.
Being active and exercising is usually a great way to relax and beat stress. This won’t altogether fix your life, but you will start to see improvement in your levels of stress if you do this each day. Exercise eases stress and gives you self confidence. You will feel better and more in control of your life.
If you are very active during the course of the day, one of the things that you can do is to listen to music to calm you down. When you listen to music, your mind will be toned down, especially if the music is very fluid and soft. Listen to your favorite tune to optimize the way you feel.
Gastrointestinal distress is a common reaction to stress. Acid reflux, a persistent feeling of nausea, and even problems with elimination can be our body’s outward reaction to stress. Reduce the level of stress you are feeling and symptoms such as these will often be greatly minimized or even disappear entirely!
One way that you can attempt to manage your stress is to make a list of everything in your life that causes you anxiety or stress. This is important because after making this list, you will be able to tackle each item one by one and work to completely eliminate all the stress in your life.
In order to get a stress attack under control, try using an imagination exercise. Attempt to picture yourself being at a place that you enjoy or find relaxing. For example, if you enjoy beach outings, mentally picture yourself lying on a beach. If you do this for a few minutes, you’ll find that it may help in getting your breathing under control and lowering your pulse rate.
If you eat foods that have a lot of carbohydrates, your body will release serotonin. This is your body’s natural relaxing chemical. So if you’re feeling stressed, munch on some crackers, pretzels, a bagel, or other snacks that have a lot of carbohydrates in them. This will help your body naturally relax itself.
Try aromatherapy for calming your nerves and reducing your stress levels. Citrus and lavender are both proven to do just this. You can use scented soaps in the shower, or try candles or heated oils in your home. If you surround yourself with peaceful scents you can reduce the amount of stress you feel at home.
One way to reduce stress is to go to bed an hour early. If you do this, you probably will naturally wake up before your alarm, which is a very relaxing feeling. By going to bed earlier, you will feel as though you have all the time in the world the next morning.
When you feel like you are not reaching the goals that you set out to hit, go to church. This will help you to learn to appreciate where you are so that you can reduce the mental pressure that you put on yourself. Sometimes, it is important to appreciate the little things in life.
A good tip that can help you keep your stress levels down is to simply look into getting an answering machine for your phone. By having an answering machine, you won’t have to worry about answering calls right away. You’ll always know who called and what they want.
Taking a relaxing bath is a great technique for feeling better and getting rid of your stress. Scented oils can be used to help someone relax even more and feel as if they are in a luxury spa. Increase your enjoyment with soothing music, or by reading a book. Never underestimate the power of a warm bath to promote relaxation of mind and body to relieve your stress.
Work on just staying no if you are feeling overwhelmed. Taking on excessive responsibilities to help others will stress you out eventually.
A good tip that can help you keep your stress levels down is to find a hobby that completely captivates you. Having a hobby that you can fully immerse yourself in doing can go a long way in fighting stress. It can also potentially lead to a career.
Avoid too much caffeine throughout the day. Caffeine increases hormones that make you feel stressed, so drinking coffee may actually increase your stress level. Green tea can be a better choice and will not increase the feelings of stress.
Many reports talk about rising cortisol levels and other hormones that increase when we are under stress. These excess circulating hormones, can cause other health problems and it really makes sense to learn useful techniques for controlling, managing or just letting go of stress so that you can get back to enjoying your life.
