When you hear the word ‘Psychopath’, what comes to mind? Psychologists have a detailed behavioral inventory you can use to evaluate people for non-criminal psychopathy. It includes things like grandiose dreams, an utter lack of remorse, and shallow emotions. Author Jackson MacKenzie, who has written a book about dealing with psychopaths, points out specific behaviors that can classify someone as a psychopath which will be explored in this video. Some of these phrases in this video may sound normal but are really red flags that you’re dealing with a psychopath.

Not only are you helping to relax yourself, but you may also provide good music to other people.

If you live near a pool, an important thing to do for stress control is to swim. Swim a few laps in the cool waters to get your mind off of your troubles and reduce stress. This is also a great form of exercise, which will indirectly help your stress level.

If you eat foods that have a lot of carbohydrates, your body will release serotonin. This is your body’s natural relaxing chemical. So if you’re feeling stressed, munch on some crackers, pretzels, a bagel, or other snacks that have a lot of carbohydrates in them. This will help your body naturally relax itself.

The idea that laughter is the best medicine is especially true for stressful situations. Most biologists now believe that laughing evolved as a response to a stressful or dangerous situation, so take advantage of your own body’s biology and find a way to make yourself laugh. Even if you are unable to laugh for real, fake laughing can also release tension.

Cooking is a great form of stress relief as you will be focusing on the recipe and the quality of the meal that you are creating. Follow a recipe and bake something that you always wanted to, which will help to ease any tensions you may be facing in your life.

Stand up for yourself when you need to. For instance, if you have a ton of work to get done before bed and a friend stops by to visit, tell them upfront that you have a busy night ahead and just don’t have time to talk. Or, if your child’s teacher asks you to help with the school play but your schedule is already full, tell the teacher that you appreciate being asked, but that you don’t have the time.
